If you are chewing the cud about transferring your business webside into the cloud Google has just launched a nifty little aid to help you. It takes just a matter of seconds to type in your company name and the number of employees into the Go Google Calculator service and then a animated little slip of paper sort of pokes it tongue out at you with then figure Google estimates you will save by signing up to its Apps service.
As you can see Web2 and More with the huge workforce of just one could save an estimated $31,282 which is a generous overstatement as I use Google Docs anyway, rely on OpenOffice for any desktop based work I need to carry out and only roll out an ancient version of MS Office 2003 when I really have to.
Once you take a spin and learn about the potential cost and time savings, the tool will create a custom URL, presentation PDF, spreadsheet or even a poster (left)that you can share with other decision makers within your business as you discuss going Google.
OK, so it is not earth shattering and the figures cannot be 100 per cent accurate, but even so if you take the statistics as a rough guide to how much money your company could save by going webside then this tool provides a powerful argument that even the toughest of bean counters will find hard to ignore.
Just as an aside, if you are a cloud consultant and you want to demonstrate to a client how much they could save, then Google does all the hard work and you get all the credit.
