If you are just starting your company blog you may well have come across some of the schemes that promise to teach you how to reach blogging stardom. You know the ones, they are like reading the Dead Sea Scrolls as you run down the script – usually there are large red or blue words involved to highlight how you can emulate the success of the author who is usually pictured in some far off exotic place with the caption that while he was having a swim in the sea off Bali he made several trillion dollars. Once you can get to the bottom line – literally – you can understand why as you are being asked to cough up hundreds of dollars to be taught “the system.”
Don’t worry, you don’t have to be “stiffed” for the national debt of Greece to get some good advice as there are some excellent free resources available. The latest to hit the streets is Build A Superstar Blog by John Lufadeju who, as a part time DJ, makes some interesting links between blogging and the music industry.
The easy to read 25 page guide is split into the following chapters:
· Introduction
· Follow your passion
· Study your craft
· Be yourself
· Find your creative zone
· Push your material
· Feature on other blogs
· Leave footprints behind
· Get a blogging crew
· Be a producer
While John who runs the excellent Your Blog Tools site leaves you in no doubt that blogging is hard work, his passion and enthusiasm encourages and carries you along and at the end of each chapter there are key points to drive home specific messages. He is also planning a “backstage pass” area where subscribers can participate in online discussions about their blogging progress.
