The name is probably misleading. And besides I think RTM is playing catch up - voice calls, and worldwide sms alerts are still missing. I'd recommend the Curve - mines been excellent and is coming up to 18 months old, which is a long time for a phone to last for me. I won't ever have an iPhone so it looks as though the Blackberry is the next best option. The Symbian based Nokia 5800 I bought on eBay before Christmas hasn't arrived so a gentle browse of Blackberries on eBay may be the answer to another snow locked afternoon.
